Faculty, staff, and students are often the first to see indications that an individual is struggling. When evaluating a person who may be of concern, it is essential that the focus be on the person’s behaviors rather than more subjective interpretations of an individual. CARE Team members are trained to make objective evaluations based on the information received.
There are three categories of behaviors we encourage our community learn about:
- Threatening Behavior: Behavior that demonstrates the potential for immediate harm to self or others. If you have concerns about threatening behavior, contact WFU Police at 336.758.5911 or 911 from a campus phone
- Disruptive Behavior: Behavior that interferes with the educational process and/or work environment.
- Troubling Behavior: Behavior that makes us feel worried about our own or others’ well-being.
By utilizing your insights and observations, we can work together to help individuals get connected to appropriate resources, and keep our community safe.
